Conventions & Events
One of the principal drivers of visitation to DTLA is its wealth and diversity of space for conventions, events, and other meetings. The Los Angeles Convention Center, the key asset in this regard, is set for a major $2.6 billion expansion that will connect its South and West Halls with a new 325,000-square-foot structure over Pico Boulevard. The project adds 190,000 square feet of exhibit space and a 98,000-square-foot rooftop ballroom, bringing total exhibit space to over 1 million square feet, enabling L.A. to host larger, high-profile events. The expansion is scheduled for completion in 2029. There are also plenty of options elsewhere in DTLA, with nearly 700,000 SF of meeting space at other venues around Downtown.
- New JW Marriott: 850 rooms and 110,000 SF of new meeting space
- Convention Center modernization and expansion
- Purple Line extension to Westwood
- LAX Automated People Mover, Rent-A-Car facility and Metro Connector
Hospitality Clusters
Within DTLA there are three major Hospitality Clusters, which include most of its hotel rooms.
Places to Go
Outside of the major hospitality clusters are several distinct DTLA neighborhoods that offer plenty to see and do. Then, just outside of DTLA, in the “Greater Downtown” area, you will find some of LA’s biggest attractions. Finally, thanks to recent and upcoming Metro rail projects, experiencing LA by train is becoming more and more of a possibility if Downtown is your hub.
