Mexican Independence Day
As part of its ongoing celebration of 100 years of feeding Los Angeles, Grand Central Market will host its first-ever Mexican Independence Day fiesta. The free event from noon – 7 p.m. will honor the Mexican heritage deeply rooted the Market’s and L.A.’s history.

Vendors such as Villa Moreliana and Chiles Secos that have made Grand Central Market a treasured destination for tacos and other regional Mexican specialties, will serve specials highlighting signature flavors from their stalls. Villa Moreliana is pairing two of its ever-popular carnitas tacos with michelada -- Mexican beer prepared with lime juices, assorted spices and peppers served in a chilled in a salt-rimmed glass. Chiles Secos will have a pop-up offering traditional mole sauce paired with homemade empanadas.

A local mariachi band will perform throughout the Market in the afternoon. In the evening Tres Souls, the three ensemble piece dedicated to the preservation of Bolero music will entertain from 5 – 7 p.m. Kids are invited to join in on the fiesta at the Little Junebugs craft station, where they can create mini festival wreaths and get temporary tattoos.
