Jaz Sawyer Quartet: Tribute To Soul Jazz Pioneers

Jaz Sawyer Quartet: Tribute To Soul Jazz Pioneers
Renowned drummer/educator and his Quartet pay tribute to the Pioneers of Soul Jazz. The Music will include a variety of Soul Jazz hits by artists including Grant Green, Cannonball Adderley, Lou Donaldson, Donald Byrd, Eddie Harris, Bobbi Humphrey, Lonnie Smith, Jimmy McGriff and more. Soul jazz developed in the late 1950s and can be described as an earthy, bluesy melodic concept with repetitive dance-like rhythms, funky hard bop, gospel-informed, and down-home.
