ICYMI: DTLA's Housing Tour Recap

For many years, the Downtown Center BID has run a monthly Housing Tour showcasing everything DTLA has to offer to those looking for a more urban lifestyle in sprawling Los Angeles. Downtown LA has a weekday population of 500,000 (workers, tourists, and residents) but only 70,000+ people actually live here. However, the number of Downtown residents is expected to top 85,000 in the next few years.

On this housing tour, we show off some of the most dynamic neighborhoods in DTLA while exploring some of the newest residential communities. Our most recent DTLA Housing Tour was held on August 4th - starting at Bottega Louie, one of DTLA's finest restaurants. In case you weren't able to join us, here's a recap of the properties we explored.

Metropolis is one of the most transformative residential projects to ever happen in DTLA. It is a 4-tower, $1-billion development that, when finalized, will have brought more than 1,500 condominiums, 350 hotel rooms, and more than 70,000 square feet of commercial space to Downtown. Residential Tower I and the Hotel Indigo tower opened in the last couple of years and our Housing Tour attendees were treated to a walk-through of the just-opened residential Tower II.

With 514 luxury condo units in Tower II alone, and a 1.5-acre community courtyard the size of an actual park, we see why Metropolis calls itself a "city within a city". You want features and finishes? Expansive window walls, built-in power window shades, Caesarstone countertops, custom wood cabinetry, Miele & Bosch appliances, Nest thermostats....the list goes on and on.

Bartlett Lofts

Located at the corner of 7th and Spring Street, the Bartlett Lofts are the epitome of a building in the Historic Core. More than a century old (built in 1911), this Beaux Arts building was renovated by renowned DTLA developer, Barry Shy, during the Downtown renaissance and converted into 139 warehouse-style lofts. Amenities include 24/7 security and concierge service, a rooftop common area, and on-site parking. This building is in the heart of DTLA and walking distance to everything Downtown has to offer.

Broadway Palace

Where the Historic Core meets the Fashion District, and right across the street from the uber-cool Ace Hotel, you'll find the second part of developer Geoff Palmer's Broadway Palace apartments. can relive the Roaring Twenties while enjoying all the amenities of the 21st century - the Serenity Garden Patio, study library, personal business offices, resort-style pool and spa, steam room, rooftop pool, state-of-the-art fitness center, indoor basketball and volleyball court, and the karaoke party lounge.

At the newly opened Onyx DTLA, you'll get a sense of what the South Park neighborhood is really all about. With its close proximity to LA Live, Staples Center, and the Metro Expo line...combined with high-end finishes, designer lighting, a state-of-the-art gym and swimming pool, and panoramic views atop the sky deck -- Onyx makes quite a case for a relocation to DTLA. If you want to live in a newly constructed building with close proximity to trendy restaurants and exciting nightlife, put Onyx high on your list!

In addition to the amazing properties we've partnered with to bring you this monthly Housing Tour, we've teamed up with Alex LiMandri and Jim White at DTLA Life Mag. Jim White was an early adopter of the urban lifestyle Downtown has to offer and is our resident expert for all things DTLA. Alex got in on the DTLA boom early, and today his DTLA Life brokerage has an unmatched roster of condos and apartments for sale and lease. Their housing base is complemented by a deep knowledge of DTLA's neighborhoods and housing trends. Recently, Alex was named "Best Residential Real Estate Agent" in DTLA by L.A. Downtown News.
