The Night of a 1000 Dogs

On July 12, 2017, DTLA residents and their four-legged friends gathered at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels to celebrate the 11th Annual Dog Day at the Cathedral, organized and hosted by the Downtown Center Business Improvement District and the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. The DCBID would like to thank the Title Sponsor Pussy & Pooch and Premier Sponsors Pet Project LA and Healthy Spot.

With over 1,400 humans and 900 dogs in attendance, this was definitely the place to be in Downtown. Attendees had the opportunity to meet over 25 pet related vendors, fill up their bags with goodies and samples, and enter drawings to win prizes. Guests also enjoyed a live DJ, Dodger Dogs and drinks by Levy Restaurants.

Each year, the DCBID honors an individual or organization that has shown exceptional leadership in the community - what dogs may call "the pack leader." This year the "Top Dog" award went to owners Janene and Rob of Pussy & Pooch. Long-time Downtown residents, they saw an opportunity to create something totally unique and lasting for our community. Their dream, two years in the making, Pussy & Pooch was launched in 2007. As a pioneer of the DTLA pet community, they created a friendly, safe place and resource center for the pets and their owners. Since 2007, they've been educating, feeding, celebrating and inspiring thousands of happy clients on the corner of 6th & Main.

Community events such as Dog Day are important to help build community as they help introduce neighbors to each other, and bring life to our streets and parks. We look forward to seeing you in 2018!
