Q. How do I get around Downtown?

A. The most convenient way to get around Downtown is to use the DASH buses. The buses run between most every visitor destination and office building. The cost is just 25 cents. Buses run every 5 to 20 minutes. For more information, call 213.808.2273.


Q. Are there any fun activities for kids?

A. The Central Library has a full calendar of activities for children, as well as a special children’s reading room. Macy’s Plaza sponsors Kids Club activities every month. The Wells Fargo History Museum is full of interesting memorabilia from the days of the Pony Express.


Q. What about nightlife?

A. The Golden Gopher is the latest nightspot to open in Downtown. Featured in the New York Times as a great neighborhood hangout, it’s at 417 West 8th Street. The roof top at The Standard Hotel is another place to be seen and to see all the bright young things.


Q. Where can I dine with a skyline?

A. LA Prime at the top of the Westin Bonaventure provides a view that is dropdead gorgeous. Or try the New Otani Hotel’s Garden overlooking Little Toyko and the city skyline.


Q. Where can I spot a celebrity?

A. Downtown LA is the most filmed location in the world. Chances are you will walk by a film crew most everyday where you might spot a famous face or two.


Q. Can I really ice skate outdoors?

A. Yes, you’ll find an outdoor rink at Pershing Square at 5th and Olive beginning in November through January. Rent a pair of ice skates and skate to live music, surrounded by some of Downtown’s most beautiful, historic buildings.


Q. Where can I buy fresh produce?

A. Every Thursday you’ll find a certified organic farmers market at 7 + FIG shopping center. Or try Grand Central Market. Open since 1917 at 3rd and Broadway, you’ll find an international array of vendors.


Q. Are there any free concerts?

A. Yes, Grand Performances offers an extensive calendar of free concerts beginning in June through October. Music, dance and spoken word performances take place at California Plaza in Bunker Hill. Call 213.687.2159 for more.
