It's A Matter of Taste

LOS ANGELES, CA -- JUNE 14-15, 2012 -- Contemporary artist J. Taylor and Trompe l'oeil Artist Sunny Jacquet present their collaborative series entitled, “It’s A Matter Of Taste” with a public reception June 14th, 2012, from 6 – 9pm, located at 1835 South Main Street, (Downtown) Los Angeles, CA 90015. “It’s A Matter Of Taste” consists of over twenty five new works that use everyday people and common objects in various styles to display the intensity and energy of real life experiences while reflecting on the power of imagination.

Artist Statements:
J. Taylor - “By adding one of the most popular fashion logos in the world to something ordinary, it can change one’s perception of the overall meaning. Using such a logo alters the setting and direct impact of the subject matter by adding a sense of importance and maturity. Each painting is based on the idea that life’s experiences add value to our development as individuals no matter what our background. It will be interesting to see what draws a viewer in, the subject matter or the logo...”

Sunny Jacquet - “This series of works is inspired by my trip to Paris France a few years ago. While touring I noticed a long line with a mixture of all different nationalities of many women in front of a high end fashion retail store. I was surprised by how long the line was and could not believe the insatiable appetite for these products. They all looked very happy standing in line with something to look forward to. I approach painting with a simple philosophy: a successful piece of art is one that allows viewers to peek into my world of imagination and artistic aspirations. Through my paintings, I wish to create an atmosphere of humor, fantasy, mystery, and elements of human conditions. Also, I transform everyday experiences into visual stimulation as a form of communication, to pose questions and seek answers”.
